Hole in the Wall Covered Wash Pad

Location: Naples, Florida

Facility: Covered Equipment Wash Pad

Construction Type: New Covered Wash Pad with Sub-Slab Containment

Project Description

Hole in the Wall Golf Club needed a dedicated, code-conscious place to wash its maintenance equipment — one that protected the surrounding course and water table instead of letting wash water run off into it. As an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary–certified club, Hole in the Wall holds itself to a high standard for land and water stewardship, and the wash facility had to live up to it. Roughneck Ranch designed and built a covered wash pad that contains and manages every gallon of wash water while giving the grounds crew a clean, all-weather station to work from.

The Challenge. A wash area is only as good as what it does with the water that leaves it. Rinse water from mowers, sprayers, and utility vehicles can carry clippings, fuel, and trace chemicals — exactly the runoff an Audubon-certified course works to keep out of its lakes, wetlands, and turf. The site needed a properly graded slab, a sub-surface drainage and sump system to capture wash water for management, and a roof to keep the working surface usable year-round in Southwest Florida’s sun and rain. All of it had to be built to last on an active golf course with minimal disruption to play.

The Work. Roughneck Ranch handled the project end to end. The team prepped and graded the site, then set the formwork and rough-in for a sub-slab drainage system — collection sumps, drain lines, and utility runs sequenced before any concrete was poured. A vapor barrier and rebar were laid over the prepared base, and the reinforced slab was poured and finished with the slope needed to direct all wash water to the containment sumps rather than to the surrounding ground. With the pad in place, the crew erected the steel canopy structure and installed the wash stations and hose reels, leaving the club with a finished, fully covered facility.

Hole in the Wall now has a purpose-built covered wash pad that keeps its equipment clean and its wash water contained — protecting the course’s lakes, turf, and the wildlife habitat its Audubon certification is built around. The covered structure extends the working life of the facility and gives the grounds crew a dependable, all-weather station.
