Pine Tree Pump House and Wet Well

Location: Boynton Beach, Florida

Facility: Irrigation Pumphouse, Wet Well & Flume Intake

Construction Type: New Irrigation Infrastructure (Ground-Up Construction)

Project Description

Pine Tree Golf Club in Boynton Beach, Florida — one of South Florida’s most respected private courses — needed a modern, reliable heart for its irrigation system. Roughneck Ranch designed and built a complete new irrigation pumphouse from the ground up, paired with a new wet well and flume intake that draw from the course’s lake, plus a dedicated containment area for the club’s acid-injection system.

The result is a purpose-built facility that pulls water cleanly from the lake, pressurizes it for the irrigation network, and safely houses the chemical dosing equipment that keeps the course’s water balanced — all engineered to run dependably through South Florida’s demanding growing season.

Our assessment revealed key operational requirements:

A reliable lake intake to feed the system. The course needed a new wet well and flume intake pipe to draw irrigation water consistently from the on-site lake, even as water levels change through the seasons.

A purpose-built structure to house and protect the pumps. The pumps, controls, and electrical service needed a permanent, weather-tight building — not exposed equipment — to ensure dependable operation and easy maintenance.

Safe handling of irrigation chemistry. The club’s acid-injection system required a dedicated containment area so chemicals are dosed accurately and any spills are contained, protecting both the system and the surrounding course.

Continuity of operation. Irrigation can’t simply stop, so the facility needed standby power and a clean electrical service to keep water moving when it’s needed most.

New Wet Well & Flume Intake. We excavated and shored a new wet well at the lake’s edge and installed a large-diameter HDPE flume intake pipe running out into the lake. This gives the irrigation system a clean, screened source of water and a stable point from which to draw and pressurize it.

Ground-Up Pumphouse Construction. From the foundation up, we built a new pumphouse — a poured slab with the wet well cast in, block walls, a framed and sheathed roof, and a finished stucco exterior. The building houses the pumps, controls, and electrical service in a permanent, protected enclosure, with a covered bay attached.

Acid-Injection Containment Area. Within the covered bay we set the acid-injection storage tanks into a dedicated containment area and plumbed the dosing equipment to the irrigation main, so the course’s water chemistry can be managed precisely and safely.

Electrical Service & Standby Power. We brought in a new electrical service — disconnect, panel, and meter — and set a standby generator alongside the building so the irrigation system keeps running through outages.

The finished facility gives Pine Tree Golf Club a dependable, self-contained irrigation plant: a clean lake intake, a purpose-built pumphouse, safe chemical handling, and standby power, all built to perform season after season. It’s a complete, ground-up system designed to keep one of South Florida’s premier courses green and playing its best.
